John currently is a policy advisor for the Australian Information Industry Association (AIIA) for Cyber Security. He has advised the Australian Signals Directorate (ASD) on the incorporation of ISO27001 into ISM and has been a past contributor to the development of the ISM.
In 2023, ISG under the leadership of John achieved the certification of the first SMB to ISO27001:2022, including the use of Essential Eight controls within the controls baseline. This builds on several past achievements including assisting the first government department in Australia to be certified to AS4444, assisting the first organisation in Australia to be certified to ISO27001:2005, and assisting the first SLA based certification of an organisation to ISO27001:2005.
